Morrisons superstore was founded in 1899 by William Morrison the company has grown from a single egg and butter stall which was originated in Bradford to become the UK’s fourth largest and rapidly growing supermarket chain. It has now been taken over by the son of the founder of Morrison’s, Sir Ken Morrison; he has worked his way to the top through a near-obsessive attention to detail. About 9 million customers visit Morison’s stores each week. The store currently employee more than 130,000 people who all either work within the stores, factories, distribution centres and head office functions.

Morrisons has taken over many of the old Safeway stores, creating many more stores around the UK, with more than 400 stores across the country. They share over 15 percent of the UK’s grocery market. The store offers various services in-store, they have something called ‘Market Street’, this enables an expert to personally prepare fresh food to how the customers like it, some services they provide are; fishmonger, butcher, oven fresh, fresh pizza, pie shop, salad bar, deli counter, bakery/cake shop, greengrocer and a café.

Morrisons offers a range of goods including both branded and own label products, there aim is to provide all customers with ‘the very best for less’ and always charge the same prices throughout every one of there stores.

There are around 10 Morrisons within Greater Manchester area, these include stores in Swinton, Eccles, Chorlton Cum Hardy, Hyde and Denton.
